Our History... In 1936, H.B. Webb owned and
operated Webb Brothers, a barber shop in downtown Fort Worth. One day,
in between haircuts, he read an article about a process that used evaporated
water to cool surrounding air. After further research, he and his nephew,
Bill Sweaney, constructed an evaporative cooling unit and promptly installed
it in the barber shop. Soon, everyone in town knew of their creation.
H.B. pitched his new product to local merchants, and, in the spring of
1937, the first commercial installations were performed.
Production and installation of Webb Coolers continued on a part-time basis
until 1946 when H.B. left his career as a barber to produce Webb Coolers
for businesses and homes all over Fort Worth. As the air conditioning
industry evolved, however, refrigeration began to emerge as the preferred
way to keep people comfortable.
In 1949, Webb Air Conditioning Company became the first authorized dealer
of Carrier air conditioning systems in Fort Worth and has been a proud
dealer of Carrier heating and cooling products for over 50 years.
H.B built his reputation as a fair and honest business entrepreneur who
knew the value of his friends and customers. His business was built on
the philosophy of treating customers like family, providing honest and
dependable service, and continuing to foster customer relationships over
time. Despite tremendous changes in the industry and the business world
in general, the traditions H.B. started 64 years ago are carried on today
by his son, Jerry Webb, his grandson, J.D. Webb, and the company's valued
employees.
